You'd think West side kids would barely have time between immersion Japanese and neoclassical Cecchetti ballet to get to the playground, but Portland's largest play structure is usually pretty busy.
Nestled just to the south of the Rose Gardens lies Portland’s largest play structure, with an impressive array of ramps, slides and things to clamber upon, plus a small sand pit. It gets pretty busy on nice days, but never so much that it’s overcrowded. Ideal age range (IMHO) 2 to 5; older children might find it a little tame. Washington Park is of course beautiful in its own right and worth exploring.
The Zoo, Children’s Museum and World Forestry Center are just up the hill, and likely even more crowded. Or take a hike – there are trails all over Washington Park, the 4T Trail begins at the Zoo and you can access the Macleay Trail too…
