Tucked away on the North side of Reed's campus is a lovely little nature trail beside a lake. You'll forget you're just ten minutes walk from Trader Joe's.

Extend your walk a little further to include Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. Otto’s Sausage Kitchen at 4138 Southeast Woodstock Boulevard is a lovely stop for an al fresco hot dog on a nice day, following your exertions.
Virginia Lake on Sauvie Island is a lot larger and has many of the same features. Oaks Bottom, Smith & Bybee, Hoyt Arboretum, Macleay Trail, Marshall Park and Tryon Creek all offer beautiful, manageable hiking opportunities in the city.

Park on SE Reedway St, 4th right past Steele heading south on Cesar Chavez, and follow the pathway down into the gorge and onto the campus. [Google map].
