Pros

  • Rewards perseverance – looks unprepossessing from the overlook by the visitor center; head down into the wetlands, however, and the miles of paths skirt a surprisingly colorful and varied landscape.
  • The education center is smallish but perfectly formed, with a bunch of fun interactive exhibits for children. Plus bathrooms and water fountains.
  • Free (donations welcome).

Plenty of farms… check out the Tri County Farms website to find somewhere open nearby.

Similar to and yet different from the excellent Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Virginia Lake on Sauvie Island is also wet and full of life. Graham Oaks Nature Park would really quite like to be this place.
