At their peak in the spring, the Rhododendron Gardens are nonetheless beautiful all year round, an oasis of tranquility which – unlike most oases of tranquility – children only enhance. We come here all the time, never get bored, always feel better for it. Ethan and I have made a game of collecting the numbers and letters that designate the various flower beds…

Pros

  • Ducks, geese to feed / observe /chase.
  • Winding paths along the water and in amongst the rhododendra. Steps, paths, bridges, stepping stones and (fairly miniature by Oregon standards) waterfalls.
  • Number / Letter hunting adds a fun element. You can download a copy of our hunting log in Excel format.

Cons

  • In summer, before 5pm, there’s an entrance fee. An annual membership starts at around $15/year.
