Oregon’s Garlic Festivals
If you like garlic and getting out into the countryside, the garlic festival offers a good ninety minutes of entertainment for all ages.
August 9th - 11th, 2013 in North Plains; August 16th - 18th, 2013 in Banks
- If you like garlic, Oregon Garlic Festival is one of the world’s top ten garlic festivals – according to their old website. Unverified fact #1!
- Garlicky and non-garlicky country treats. Including garlic ice-cream.
- Free admission.
- It’s a schlep out to North Plains (or Banks). Pretty, though.
- Smaller in scale than I had imagined. Think Saturday market, only everyone’s got garlic.
As of 2013, the event formerly known as North Plains Elephant Garlic Festival has been split, rebranded and relocated to Banks, Oregon August 16th – 18th as The Oregon Garlic Festival. Meanwhile, Summer Fest and Garlic Out West will be held August 9th – 11th at a new venue in North Plains. There was a playground on the old site in North Plains, which was handy. Google Street View suggests this may not be the case at either of the new locations.
This year's festivals will be held in North Plains and Banks. [Google map]
