Director Park

One of the finer examples of urban renewal downtown, Director Park offers a fun wading area for children in the summer months right in the heart of the city.

Sensibly, the pool area is only filled in the summer. In any case, it usually only hot enough to be fun to splash in July through September.

Description

If we’re off downtown in the summer months, I pack a towel and a change of clothes just in case the boy wonder fancies cooling off in the fountains. Director Park somehow defies the occasional sketchiness of the other park blocks, and the layout allows you to stay close to your children without much danger of getting wet yourself. Indeed, you could take advantage of the relatively comfortable outdoor seating and sip at a cappuccino while you watch, if that’s your thing. In fountain terms, it’s not the most exciting option (Bill Naito Legacy Fountain is more fun), but it’s a fun spot for little ones to wade about in nonetheless.
